SUPER DUPER GREEN SMOOTHIE

img_5108
SMOOTHIE INFUSED WITH ESSENTIAL OILS

I just know all of you  will absolutely love my Super Duper Green Smoothie. Not only does it have a funky looking colour, but it packs a glorious health punch, tastes divine and is a fantastic detox after a night out or just a great drink to get a whole lot of vitamins in you. By drinking this, you will feel an amazing difference. You will have more energy, more stamina, more mental focus, clearer skin, and a glow that comes from within….and the weight loss doesn’t hurt either!

Kale – Insanely low in calories. Powerful anti-oxidant with anti-inflammatory properties. Helpful for arthritis and autoimmune diseases.  Helps to create that youthful glow.

Spinach – The beauty of spinach lies in how easy it is to disguise the taste. It’s mild tasting yet packed with an abundance of vitamins, has anti-cancerous properties and is one of the healthiest foods on the planet.

Cucumber – Since it’s 95% water, it’s an incredible detoxifer. Cucumber helps with liver and kidney function.

Lemon Essential Oil – Cold-pressed from lemon rinds, Lemon essential oil has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. It contains 68 percent d-limonene, a powerful antioxidant. Lemon can also be used to enhance the flavor of foods and water and is beneficial for the skin.

Ginger Essential Oil -Ginger essential oil’s soothing and warming qualities to help address digestive problems, relieving any kind of digestive upset, such as nausea, indigestion, diarrhoea, gas, and even morning sickness.

Banana – An essential in smoothies as it adds creaminess, a touch of sweetness, and helps you feel full longer. Plus, it’s rich in potassium and fiber and gives you natural energy.

Pure Apple Juice – Since it’s packed with Vitamin C, it’s a friend to your immune system. The sweet juice counteracts the bitterness of the greens and leaves a refreshing taste.

If you want to up the ante on the health benefits, swap your apple juice with water and add a whole apple instead. You will be increasing your fiber as whole fruits are always preferable to juice. My kids definitely prefer the apple juice but we do both in our home.

1 Handful (approximately 1 cup) Baby Spinach

1 Handful (approximately 1 cup) Kale

2 cups Pure Apple Juice

½ Cucumber

2 drops Lemon Essential Oil

1 Banana

1/2 cup Ice (Optional, I prefer freezing my ingredients so I don’t have to add ice)

2 drops Ginger essential oil

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Drink straight away while it’s nice and cold.
  2. Using a frozen banana or frozen leafy greens will allow you to use less ice or none if you prefer.

DIY After Sun Spray

Today I went to a blending class for essential oils and I learn’t a bit more about essential oils. I made an after sun spray a memory blend and a blend for hay fever (all the aliments that I have), with the help of the lovely Sarah Barber who is my tutor on my journey of essential oils. So I will give you the recipes and links for the ingredients and if any of you decide to make the recipes I would love to hear all about your experiences with the essential oils and how they have helped you. Since I have incorporated essential oils into my life I feel really good about using less chemicals, lowering my waste by using reusable glass bottles instead of plastic and using produce from an environmentally conscious and sustainable soucing, Doterra products (where I get my essential oils from) practice Cō-Impact Sourcing which is an initiative that seeks to develop long-term, mutually beneficial supplier partnerships while creating sustainable jobs and providing reliable income in underdeveloped areas. Doterra is committed to the ethical treatment of its suppliers by providing on-time payments at fair prices. So this is the recipe for the After Sun Spray.

In a 50ml spray bottle add:

40ml aloe vera juice

2 teaspoons Doterra fractionated Coconut oil

1/4 teaspoons vitamine E (for preservation, is optional, I used vitamin E capsules)

1-2 drops Lavender oil

1-2 drops Melaleuca oil

1-2 drops Peppermint oil or Roman Chamomile

Tip: Shake before each use to incorporate all the ingredients. Spray onto skin as needed and enjoy the soothing benefits.

DIY HEALING LOTION BAR

3133BE60-3244-460B-899A-1C5352A5131C

I have decided to put some of my favourite essential oils into a body lotion bar. As I am breaking away from plastic bottles and harsh chemicals I decided to make my very own body lotion bar. Now if you aren’t sure what this is, don’t worry because that is what it is. It is basically what the name says, it is a lotion in the form of a bar. Not only does is not have no plastic bottle, it also has no harsh chemicals and I have added some essential oils to give it a good boost. The Rosemary essential oil and lavender essential oil are great for the nervous system, the melaleuca acts as an antiseptic and I have added On Guard which is a blended essential oil that is great for immune support. Now this is really easy to make and I really hope some of you try my recipe out.

For the recipe you will need:

30ml Bees wax

30ml Jojoba or Sweet Almond oil (or a blend of the two)

30ml Shea butter

3 drops Rosemary essential oil

4 drops Melaleuca oil

4drops Lavender essential oil

3 drops On Guard blended essential oil

BDA931A7-67BD-43B4-80B2-BE327041A45A

In a bowl melt the Jojoba or the Sweet Almond oil, Shea butter and Bees wax in the microwave or in a double boiler till melted, then stir and add the essential oils of your choice and place into silicon moulds or a lined container. Set aside until the bar has hardened. If you want to rush the setting time then just place it in the fridge.

If you are interested in becoming a wellness advocate for Doterra essential oils then click on the link. I would recommend the Family Essential Kit to start off your essential oils collection.

Forgiveness

As my friends and family know I am on a road to recovery, which entails me being rather sensitive at times and if something upsets me it might come across as the worst thing in the world, which has led me to write about forgiveness. I recently had someone hurt me (with words) and I felt it a bit difficult to shake the feeling of hurt off of me. Yes I am a spiritual person but I am still just a human with feelings and i’m also a sensitive soul. After tossing and turning I finally managed to let go and feel better about this particular topic. So I am going to share with you how I did it and I hope by sharing this information I will be able to help someone else who finds themselves in a similar situation.

First of all I went to the person who I trust more then anyone in the world (my partner) and she really managed to calm me down and say some nice things to me which almost instantly helped me. Then I had a good nap. About halfway through the night I ended up with a up with a plate of pizza in bed. So maybe comfort food is not the best thing  because I’ve woken up with a bit of a sore belly and still a sore heart. As I laid in my bed I felt so sad and I didn’t want to feel this way anymore so I decided to do a bit of a meditation which made me think about the situation. I realised I had to just let go and release this pain. I closed my eyes and I asked for divine help.

Nelson Mandela once said “Resentment is like drinking poison and then hoping it will kill your enemies” and we all know he managed to forgive and a lot of terrible things happened to him. So if he can do it then so can we.

Although my situation was not quite as brutal it was still significant as I felt hurt and betrayed, but the truth is that holding onto something will hold you back from being all you are meant to be. Forgiving someone doesn’t mean you have to instantly trust someone again because forgiveness and trust are two very different things. Forgiveness doesn’t mean you have to condone what someone has done and you don’t even have to keep that person in your life but if you can forgive you will feel a whole lot better.

First you have to forgive yourself. You might be thinking “how could I have been so stupid and naive”. You have to realise that this situation like every other situation is an opportunity to strengthen your soul. Whenever I get over that initial pain I ask myself “what can I learn from this and how can I grow?” Then I find the will to forgive the person who hurt me by asking the Divine for help. The help that I got was to stand in that  other persons shoes and to be them and to feel how they feel. I thought about how this could of happened and I think about what they have been through in life. Whether they have a current situation or whether they have had something happen to them in their past that has made them this way. I actually ended up feeling really sorry for this person because hurt people hurt people. This does not mean that I condone the behaviour of people that hurt me, it just gives me the strength to move on. Whether I move on or never see this person again that is not the issue but when you can forgive that will be when you can truly move on and be happy.

How to know if you are an old soul

Have you ever found yourself asking the question of “Am I an old soul?” or “have I been here before”. Well the fact that you have asked yourself this question could be an indication that you actually are actually an old soul. If you were a young soul or a less experienced soul then you wouldn’t be asking yourself this question. It probably wouldn’t even cross your mind as it is something that you have to have an awareness of. More than likely if you have asked yourself this question then you are an old soul.

  1. Souls are highly sensitive and intuitive. A lot of them have good psychic awareness and intuition even if they haven’t studied for it and they use it. And the sensitivity and empathic traits just come naturally. They are usually aware if something is wrong with someone and can tell if there is something wrong in the world.
  2. Do you feel like you need to have some alone time. Sometimes you will feel like you need to just need to find yourself and you can feel a bit overwhelmed with things that are going on as you are quite empathetic. You want to help people.
  3. Souls are very compassionate and hate anger and negativity. The negativity drives you mad and you don’t understand what the point of these negative emotions are. Do you feel like you have no time for negativity or  anger such as negativity in the workplace? Old souls will generally see that there is a place for anger such as when bad things are happening in the world and with the environment but generally trivially anger will come across as baffling to them. Instead of showing anger in an unproductive way, old souls would more than likely be protesting.
  4. Do you ever feel like you can’t really connect with a lot of people? You can’t even connect with some  of your family. Sometimes you might be out and you just feel a bit disconnected or out of place and you just want to go home.
  5. Souls understand that their bodies are  just vessels to carry the soul. They know that the body needs to be looked after, but most importantly they know that their souls are the most important. Old souls do look after their bodies and like to be pampered and some like wearing nice outfits, but most importantly they understand that their task is to get information.
  6. Old souls are aware that we are all one, one with people and nature and they like looking after the environment and you probably wouldn’t see them littering or harming nature. They don’t understand why people hurt the environment with things like fracking, by putting profit above clean water. Old souls are very caring of the earth.
  7. Old souls tend to be less materialistic. Some people that are old souls may have started off as being materialist at a certain point in their lives, but at some point they probably realised that their is more to life and that there is a much bigger picture. A lot of old souls will say that they are minimalists and they don’t even realise it.
  8. You would think that old souls would connect better with older people, but they actually connect with random ages, young children, old people and even with animals. Old souls just connect with other old souls.
  9. Souls love learning new things. They are not necessarily always studying something but they love to gain more knowledge and experience. They get intrigued and are curious and are always open to knowledge and experience.
  10. You always tend to seek a deeper meaning in life’s course. You seek a connection, a deeper meaning when it comes to not only your existence but also of those who are a part of this journey with you. You believe that the things that happen in your life must have a meaning and that they happen for a reason.
  11. People love talking to you about what’s going on in their lives and you are a good listener. While younger souls prefer to speak than to hear, an old and mature soul understands the need to listen more and talk less. You have the ability to give them the right piece of advice, a soothing healing touch that only the wise, experienced, and understanding soul can give. You might even feel like a councillor at times.
  12. You are more inclined towards the spiritual realm of life. You are more spiritually aware and you also are thirsty for more spiritual knowledge. You own a collection of books  that speak of cosmic awareness, of the historical era, of life and it’s various facets. Spirituality is something that you seek in your surrounding.
